Coronavirus / Covid-19 updates for the 2020 Typographics design festival
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the schedule for this year’s Typographics festival has required some adjustments, but we are still hosting as many of the events online as possible. Here is a general overview of the changes:
The main Typographics conference / lecture series has been pushed back to July 24, 25, and 26, and will take place entirely online via livestream. Some of the original speakers have understandably had to cancel, but we’re working to refill most of those slots.
Registration for the online conference is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors who have stuck with us despite the pandemic and hectic last-minute schedule changes. Thank you sponsors!
The Typographics Book Fair is also adapting to an online format, including Zoom video booths for most sellers. It will take place July 22–26. Check the Book Fair page for details and free registration.
This year’s TypeLab has actually expanded in scope, and will now unfold as a free 72-hour online event – running 24 hours a day for all of June 18, 19, and 20 (New York City time). Planning such a marathon event with hosts all around the world is a complex task, but it fits perfectly with the experimental, impromptu nature of TypeLab.
Most of the previously scheduled workshops and even a few tours have also been moved to online platforms. Check the listings for details.
We’d like to once again thank our trusting, generous, and patient sponsors for offering the support needed to keep Typographics 2020 a reality despite the pandemic. Please show them some love!
If you have any questions, please feel free to write to type@cooper.edu.
We’re lucky to have the support of some of our favorite organizations. Without their generosity, Typographics would not be possible. Please consider supporting them.
