Conference talk
Javier Viramontes:
Copy, Transform, Combine
Archives, private collections, and galleries can be used to deepen the historical/practical understanding of graphic design students by providing immersive material and contextual learning experiences. The talk will revisit, “Copy, Transform, Combine.,” a student exhibition/active workspace featuring historically significant Swiss posters from the Tom Strong Collection, meant to introduce students to typography, grid systems, and modernism. Javier will be briefly joined by Tom Strong to recount a few firsthand vignettes of his education amongst Modernist Masters, and of his life as a collector.
This talk will take place online, Friday, July 24, 2020, at 2:00pm (UTC-4), as part of the main Typographics conference schedule. Registration for the conference is free.
